Kali ini aku merayap ke ‘Landasan Keretapi Maut’ ( Death Railway ). .. yes my first day of this Ramadan this year..kat atas Landasan Keretapi Maut nie…. Ha…ha…. hampeh…. The Death Railway ( or may be some of you still remember the film ‘The Bridge over the River Kwai ) was a strategic railway built between Thailand and Burma, and it was 415 KM ( 303 KM in Thailand and 112KM ) in Burma. The construction was began during World War 2 by Japanese by approx. 30,000 prisoners of wars ( mainly from allied forces ) and plus 200,000 buruh paksa from Malaya, China, India etc…. of these almost 120,000 died of many diseases, due to starvation and mainly lack of medical equipments. So when I decided to came here, so means I have to travel to province of Kanchanaburi, up to the border of Myanmar, to see the most famous stretch of this rail, which 3 essentials places you have to go if you really want to see how amazing the construction of this rails. ( The Japanese Army Engineer estimated before the WW2 erupted, to built this rail at least required 5 years, but what Japanese Army did, only in 16 months…. But of course…with 120,000 casualties… ) …the first one absolutely the ‘JEARTH War Museum’, secondly ‘The River Kwae Bridge’ and thirdly ‘The Hellfire Pass’ which one of the last stretch of an amazing railway, bordering of Myanmmar….. but memang menginsafkan..how terrible the war is…and memang betul horror..pasal antara buruh paksa yg pernah kerja sini…adalah sedara aku…… ( and most of his friends yg kena paksa ..perished..and Cuma umur dia jer agak panjang…) so bila aku tengok sendiri..memang baru aku tau batapa horrornya……..As declared at the front entrance of the museum… the Japanese might be forgiven, but not forgotten…. Might be true enough….. See some photos……
